EYSA Frequently Asked Questions
EYSA is a volunteer run community organization. The goal of EYSA is to provide recreational opportunities for any child interested in soccer. The EYSA objectives are simple: Build Skills and have FUN! Our philosophy promotes the development of the player through good physical conditioning, promotion of sportsmanship and enjoyment of the game while developing knowledge and skills in soccer.
Equipment Requirements:
Each player will be provided with a team shirt. Players MUST provide their own shorts, shin guards and footwear and Sock. Cleats are mandatory (NO METAL).Players should bring their own soccer ball to all practices.
5-U ONLY players will be provided balls, shinguards, socks and a jersey.
Player/Parent Responsibilities:
Each player should be punctual in attendance at all scheduled games and practice sessions. Come prepared for practice; includes appropriate clothing, shin guards, soccer ball and water bottle. Players should encourage all teammates and be respectful of coaches. Players and parents responsibility includes courteous behavior towards other players, coaches, referees, and fans.
No. Jewelry of any kind (necklaces, watches, earrings, rings, bracelets, etc.) cannot be worn during practice or games. There is an exception for Med-Alert bracelets, but they must be completely covered with tape or a soft cloth band for the safety of your child and all the other players.
Glasses, hearing aids, and med-alerts may be worn to practices and games. The use of an eyeglass holder/strap or sports-glasses is recommended. As stated above, Med-Alerts must be completely covered with tape or a soft cloth band as a safety measure.
Any hair accessories should not be made of metal or plastic, and should not be rigid. Soft rubber bands are recommended and acceptable.
How do I get a refund?:
See your child's registration for refund information.
What if my child needs to miss practice or a game?:
Please communicate with your coach, so they can make arrangements to play down a player with the opposing team if needed.
Why can't I register my child after the registration closes?:
There is a lot of behind the scenes work that needs to get done to launch the season. Adding more children after registration has closed, causes a lot of extra work and impacts ordering jerseys, coaching needs, equipment and more. We try to give plenty of notice to when the seasons registration will close.
Why are we playing other leagues?:
Our numbers have been dwindling over the years. We are losing players to competitive travel leagues, other sports or just no longer wanting to play. We want to give our teams fresh teams to play against, instead of playing the same three teams all season. The other leagues are an hour or less away from us. We work hard to schedule those games later in the day, so that you can see your children at home, before you go to a local complex. It's all about giving the kids more games.
Soccer is a sport played in the rain. Games are not being cancelled due to a forecast for rain. However, in the event of lightning and/or thunder the following rules apply.
If lightning is seen, all games must be stopped, and the fields cleared immediately. All participants must seek shelter in a building or vehicle. Play can be resumed when 30 consecutive minutes have passed, free of lightning or thunder. Each new lightning event requires the 30 minute clock to be reset.
If for any reason a parent decides that it is in the best interest of the child to stay home due to weather, please do so. We will not routinely cancel games due to weather, but each parent needs to take ultimate responsibility for the player's safety. If you choose to keep your child home, EYSA will not reschedule the game or issue refunds.
